NEWS: From Bland vision to grand design

The Blueskin Youth Centre Association resolved on Monday 25 May to
develop a replacement at Bland Park in Waitati for the old Youth Hall,
a former church, damaged by fire several years ago. It is proposed
that the replacement will be a covered, all-weather, roofed structure
with a hard, smooth playing surface.

The Association will hold a meeting, open to the public, on 22 June at
Waitati Hall, to advance its proposal. Full details will be published
in next month's 'Blueskin News'.

'Weggies' really dig Bland Park

By Lynnaire Johnston

The Waitati Edible Gardens group want to set up community allotments in Bland
Park, a scheme which has the broad support of the Blueskin A&P
Association, although details have yet to be fully finalised.

The plan is to make allotment space available on the park's highly
fertile alluvial soil to individuals, families and groups wishing to
set up gardens there. To this end, anyone wishing to take advantage of
this free space should register their interest by contacting me
(Lynnaire Johnston: 482 1364 or lynnaire@ihug.co.nz).

A Weggie meeting will be held in the next few weeks, essentially to
discuss how best to put the next phase of the community garden plan
into action, ideally so that by next spring green shoots will be
pushing their way through the soil in new allotments.

Remember, life membership for only $5. To get onto our email list,

Fwd: Blueskin A & P Clearing Sale to be held on 4th April

by Paul Clements

This year's Clearing  Sale at Bland Park, Waitati is set for 4 April.
The Sale over the past few years has been a great opportunity for
anyone to market their goods and to recycle.

Itms for sale will be set out in lots with easy access for viewing and
running the Auction.

The auction is set to start at 11.00am, preceded by the delivery of
items from 8.00am. Contact George Terry (025 224 0311) with large
items you wish to advertise. We will run an advertisement in the
'Otago Daily Times' before the sale.

The day will have a Fair atmosphere with local schools running food
stalls, car boot sales and various fun events. It is the wish of the
A&P Society to involve many local groups in this event. If you have an
idea we have the space for you.

The World Famous Possum Toss will be run, so wind up those tossing arms.

The A&P also would like to encourage you to become a member, $10 per
family payable at the Secretary's Office. There will be a lucky number
run in conjunction with this promotion. We need your support to keep
this local facility operating for our community.
